Q.
How do I find out which centres are running a JEB course in my area?
A.
Either phone us or e-mail us and we will give you the names and phone numbers of centres in your City or County.
Q.
What are the entry requirements for a JEB distance learning course for teaching IT?
A.
You have to have a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent, plus ECDL, or a level 2 qualification or level 3 experience in IT if you are registering for this course. You will also need to arrange your own teaching practice and examination in a school, college or training centre local to you, before registering with JEB.

What are the entry requirements for a Professional Development course for teachers?

You have to have a teaching qualification or be a trainee teacher.
Q.
How do I register for a distance learning course?
A.
You download the distance learning detailed information for the course you are interested in, complete all sections of the registration form and send it to us by post together with a letter stating that you have made arrangements for the teaching practice and examination. You need to include payment by cheque in sterling.
Q.
How long do I have to complete my JEB IT teaching course at a college?
A.
You have until the course end date to complete your coursework and the examination, if applicable. If you do not pass your examination you can apply to re-sit it at the next examination series.

How long do I have to complete my distance learning course?
A.
You have a maximum of 2 years from your date of registration.
Q.
What are the dates of the forthcoming JEB examinations and at what time do they start?
A.
If you access the support materials section you will find a list of examination dates. All examinations start at 9.30 am except for Word Processing practical, which starts at 11.10 am.
Q.
Can I place an order for publications e.g. specimen examination papers and answers by telephone and pay with credit card?
A.
You can download the Publications Price List from the Support Materials section, but you would have to complete the order and send it to us by post with your cheque in sterling. (We can invoice registered centres only on receipt of a written publications order.)
Q.
What should I do if I am not happy with the assessment of a piece of course work by the centre where I am following my JEB course?
A.
You should inform your tutor/assessor of this and see if it can be resolved. If it cannot be resolved you can ask for it to be referred to the internal moderator at the centre. If this has taken place and it is still not resolved a written appeal can be made asking for the assessment to be referred to the external moderator at their next visit to the centre.

What are the dates for the issue of examination results?
A.
Results for the March examination series are posted on 30 April.
Results for the June examination series are posted on 20 August.
Results for the November examination series are posted on 22 December.
Q.
I find it difficult to understand my result slip for Education Principles and ICT Skills. Please would you explain it to me?
A.
ICT Skills
Unit 1a = 3 resources for understanding IT.
Unit 1b = examination or report.
Unit 2 = practical assignments.
Ext Assess = WP/DTP externally assessed assignment.
Unit 3 = teaching project and observed teaching session(s).
Education Principles and Practice
Units 1, 2 and 3 = grade for exam.
T Prac = 2 hours observed/evaluated teaching.
T Exper = additional 2 hours teaching experience.
Grades A, B, C are exam passes.
Grade D or below is a fail.
Q.
What should I do if I am not happy with the result of my JEB examination?
A.
You should discuss this with the centre and if they agree you can ask them to apply to JEB for a re-assessment and written report on your paper enclosing the current re-assessment fee. Any application for re-assessment has to be made within three weeks of receiving your result.
Q.
I have misplaced my JEB Diploma/Certificate and would like to know how I can replace it and what the administrative costs would be?
A.
You would need to send us a letter explaining the circumstances in which the certificate was lost and enclosing some form of identification and the certificate replacement fee for each certificate which is £20.
Q.
If I complete my JEB Education Practice: ICT Skills or ICT Advanced Certificate in one year and then go on and complete a Stage One or Stage Two FE Teaching Certificate the next year, will I be able to apply for a JEB Diploma?
A.
You would need to apply to JEB for the Diploma before your two year registration expires, enclosing a copy of your FE Teaching Certificate and a fee of £20. Once your two year registation has expired we would be unable to issue a Diploma.
